French modelmaker living in London UK

Mon Apr 29, 2013 5:49 am

Hi, My name is Eric and I am a French modelmaker living in England UK. I am interested by the WW1 and WW2 aircraft in 1/32 and make model on 1/32 scale. I am also a scratchbuilder in the same scale and specialise on flying boat. I am a professional modelmaker. I have design a scale 1 WW2 German cipher machine called Enigma in scale 1 (none working) for my Higher National Diploma in modelmaking in 1997. I sold it to a museum near my native country France in Guernsey island, where it is in full display for the visitor here. I am making in a moment a Focke Wulf 190 A9 in 1/32 scale scratcbuilding the 2 intrados fuel tanks using an Hasegawa kit. The A9 had a more powerful engine and a 14 blades cooling fan instead of 12 in he FW 190 A8. The Grumman chief pilot of Roy Grumman, Bob Hall, was so impressed by the FW 190 he tested in the UK (from RAF captured aircraft which landed by mistake in 1941) that returning to the USA he managed to convince his boss to used the more powerfull Pratt & Whitney R2800 to be fit on a shortest Grumman airframe cat fighter. This new light Cat became the legendary F8F Bearcat. Take care all.
