Hi. My name is Dave Flood, and I am the editor of the newsletter, "Flight Line," for the Southern California Wing of the Commemorative Air Force, based at Camarillo Airport in Camarillo, CA. I also maintain one of our websites.

We have the following aircraft in flying status: (1) AT6/SNJ-5 Texan; (2) F6F-5 Hellcat; (3) F8F-2 Bearcat; (4) PT-19A Cornell; (5) C-46 Commando; (6) SNJ-4 Texan (just 4 test flights so far); and (7) A6M3 Zero (which will be travelling to Wanaka, NZ soon to appear in the "Wings Over Wanaka" air show on April 2, 3, and 4, 2010).

We have in restoration: (1) Spitfire Mk XIV; (2) F-24R Argus; (3) PBJ-1J (B-25) Mitchell.
You have been following the progress of our PBJ Restoration Team through the WIX thread maintained by Dan Newcomb.

I will be posting information from time to time, with photos, of our warbirds, and news about our Museum and any special events we will be putting on. I hope that those of you who follow our postings will be able to come out to Camarillo and visit our Aviation Museum, located at 455 Aviation Drive, Camarillo, CA 93010.

Our website addresses are: http://www.orgsites.com/ca/caf-socal
http://www.cafsocal.com

Our museum is open 10-4 daily, except Monday. Our Restoration Hangar is open Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, 10-4. We have about 60 volunteers who work on our planes on a regular basis. We have no deadlines, and our volunteers all work for a six-figure salary, all zeros. Our pace is deliberate, as we want everything to be done right the first time - but we usually get it right the third or fourth time. Our speeds are slow, slower and slowest - if you know what I mean. Our average age is getting up there - Les Bedding, our Spitfire Crew Chief, just turned 90!

Our CAF goals are to honor American military aviation through Flight, Exhibition, and Remembrance - and to educate the young and old alike in the importance of military aviation to the preservation of our freedoms. We try our best to "Keep 'Em Flying!"

It's a pleasure for me to join you in the Warbird Community!

Dave
