Howdy folks,
I just discovered this site a few days ago had to wait a few days to get approved. My major interest is the B-52. Over the past Thanksgiving weekend I had the great good fortune of being given a custom tour of the boneyard at Davis-Monthan AFB and got up-close and personal with two of the three G-models that I crewed during the Vietnam conflict. Unfortunately, the third was destroyed and sold for scrap back in the early 90s. The good news is that the forward fuselage was salvaged for use as a training aid and eventually ended up at the Hangar 25 Museum in Big Spring, Texas. I haven't visited there yet, but plan on doing so this spring.
A bit closer to home in Seattle, the Museum of Flight at Boeing Field has an original B-52G, serial 59-2584, at their restoration center at Paine Field near Everett, about 30 minutes away from my home. Tours inside and out are available free for the asking, and I've been aboard her 3 times this year already. I encourage any and all to get up there and check it out. I'll save the pictures and stories for other discussions.
