All,
First post so be gentle.
I'm currently trying to reverse engineer the control column sprocket and chain for our Horsa glider cockpit project and could do with some input on chain sizes.
Unfortunately we don't have any drawings of the sprocket but a bit of reverse engineering I can just about figure out the necessary outer diameter to make the chain pass down the side of the column correctly. I'm going on the principle that everything was standard/stock sizes and back then, was imperial and that the chain was probably made my Renolds.
After talking to an engineer he suggested to using modern 06B1 chain which is 3/8" pitch but it feels a little too heavy when I look at it.
Can anyone offer any sort of input on what sort of size Renold control chain was common in WWII RAF aircraft and what a good modern equivalent would be?
