Rare Monogram Airpower kit available

Wed May 16, 2012 8:37 am

I bought one of the rare 1/240 scale 1957 Monogram Air Power kits off the internet. It was missing some parts replacements of which which were cast by the seller in resin, the largest of which is the C-130 fuselage.
Then, by complete chance (going into an antique store I passed every day for yeasr but had never been in before...how's that for luck?) I found a nearly complete second kit.
The few parts it is missing are in the first kit.

I asked the seller of the first kit if he could make resin replacemt pieces for the second kit and he said no..unless I wanted to sell him back the kit he sold me for half of what i paid for it. Great guy, huh? (Name pprovided on request to warn future buyers).
So...can anyone make the needed resin pieces?
Or does anyone want the second kit?
Or does anyone one want a kit in exchange for building and painting one?

I know it may be sacrilidge to build one, but that's what they were made for.

Any comments, suggestions?

I remember that kit when I was young (long time ago!). Almost bought it back then.

It's a cool kit and I have a friend who has the whole thing including the "globe" store display. He and his father owned a hobby shop and he still has it.

I know professional model builders charge an arm and a leg, but the kit is super easy to build (but hard to paint) and the unbuilt kit is worth a fair amount (about $500).

I'm interested. What parts are missing from the second kit?
