This forum is for discussions pertaining to Air Racing and Aerobatics of NON-Warbird aircraft. In addition this is the place to discuss General Aviation aircraft topics and yes Michael, that includes flying Lawnmowers

I can't answer that question as have not sat in the stands since 1976, but be sure to get a pit pass. Wandering the pits seeing work done on the airplanes is one of the great Reno experiences, and the pits are also often a good place to watch the racing action from.

Sorry, don't check this link very often. Actually, the general admission grandstands are fine for seating, and you can always relocate if you don't care for where your sitting. The entire show is in front of you, so viewing is good. Only thing in center that is off from the general grandstands is the announcers, who are down near the center front of the box seats during the Unlimited Gold races.

Use that pit pass to come say hello in the IF-1 pits! I'm there early and late when not running around all over the place.....

I see that Thom Richard is flying IF-1 this year - didn't think Precious Metal would be rebuilt in time but he sounded positive when I was at Kissimmee in December.
Good move getting passes online - not sure if you will still need to stand in line to get wristbands or not. Those lines can be brutal at times.
Give Section 3 a fair try at least once, even if you did get a reserved seat. They (we) are loud and obnoxious at times but many performers and race pilots come up into that section to sign programs/shirts/hats etc. It's a great place to watch either an Unlimited race or the Blue Angels from.
Enjoy!

Go down to IF1 and have a good look at that airplane Thom Richard is flying! That airplane and #11 Endeavor are two of the most beautiful and best built and finished aircraft I have ever been privileged to be in the presence of.

Precious Metal will be there....arriving via flatbed truck. Sounds like they'll have a stand to raise money for the rebuild and the wing and a big part of the fuse will be on display.

Precious Metal will be in the pits, as RARA asked if we could bring her. They suggested the arrangement to help the team get the rebuild done quicker. The wing and fuselage will be on display, along with tee shirts and stuff for sale to help the rebuild process. Afterwards, the pieces will go to specialty shops who have the jigs and experience to do a proper rebuild to each.
Folks seem to forget that Thom came out of the IF 1 class as his start to air racing (like many people do...!). Last year we had the World Cup Series and Thom/ Hot Stuff took first place for the series of races in Spain, Tunisia and Reno. While PM has been getting torn down this year, HS has gone through a normal off season rebuild.
Hot Stuff and Margaret June are in the race trailer for PM and will arrive in Reno tomorrow. I always encourage people to seek out IF 1 because there is so very much going on there each year. It is an everyman class that anybody can afford to take part in, and the competition is no less fierce between teams than any other class.
I'll be hanging out in IF 1 this year again if anybody drops by. I need some sort of badge/ pin that says WIX on it to stand out!Say hello if you are there...
