Consolidated Fleetster 17

All

Is anyone aware of drawings or detailed photos available for the above aircraft? Possible replica to be built for a TV program focusing on the Arctic rescue of the Chelyuskin crew in 1934.

cheers
Dave

There's a nice large-format photo here:

Dave: You could probably use Lockheed Vega drawings and a little Hollywood prop magic and build a nice replica. Would really depend on timeframe and how accurate one wants to be, as well as budget. If they get serious, I can get you in touch with someone that is well versed in the Vega.

This might be ancient history (but then again, perhaps I stumbled across paydirt...).

DEKNO models created a 1/72 resin kit of the Model 17.

In a blog, the model's creator stated:

...thanks to the drawings of Capt. Douglas E. Anderson and published in the magazine Skyways #20 & #22 "The Consolidated Fleetster" I could knows the interior configuration and translate to 3D in good security...

Personally, I don't peruse Skyways, but it seems like a decent lead if a kit designer used it.

It appears one can download a pdf (for a price!) of issues No. 20 and 22 of Skyways at the following link(s).

Happy hunting!

One thing I've found useful is to use Google Books to search for stuff.

https://www.google.com/books/edition/In ... frontcover

https://www.google.com/books/edition/Co ... frontcover

https://www.google.com/books/edition/Re ... frontcover

https://www.google.com/books/edition/Ai ... frontcover

https://www.google.com/books/edition/US ... frontcover

https://www.google.com/books/edition/Th ... frontcover

Some of these you can only see a snippet, but it hints that there might be a picture in the actual publication, such as this link below:

Nice work, Ryan!

I was actually pleasantly surprised by the detailed pic of the subject aircraft at the wiki for "SS Chelyuskin":

In a previous post, I failed to provide a link to this "Drawing Index" for Skyways magazine (at the same supplier)...could prove useful for those hunting for other vintage details as well.
