Not a warbird, so I am putting this here...

It is with great regret that I report that I got word from a fellow Grumman enthusiast the other day that VH-CQA, Grumman G-73 Mallard serial no. J-35, crashed into the Swan River a few days ago in Perth Australia, killing both people on board.

It is reported to have gotten too low and slow in a steep turn as it maneuvered over the river during a "flypast" for the Australia Day Skyshow there.

According to my records, this particular Mallard was once owned by Dean Franklin as N22DF and by Bill Rose as N100BR. As N100BR it was the subject of several popular photographs and even paintings showing it in the company of its sister ship, Goose N600ZE (sn B-100) both painted in a common livery of base white with red and blue stripes.

My thoughts and prayers go out both to the people who were lost and to the families that they left behind.
