In a very odd way, reminds me of the Australian-built agricultural aircraft (name and nomenclature, who knows?) that looks like a giant egg with wings; if you recall, it appears in one of the Road Warrior movies.

Tulio is speaking of the Transavia Airtruck...one of my favorites weird
wanna-haves. Basically a flying pick-up/camper..an irresistable attraction
for this Texan...it could only be more attractive if it was an amphibian.
Ugly in the classic definition of design, beautiful in it's rugged utility.

In looking for a photo of the Airtruck, I didn't realize the proto-Airtruck
had a Warbird ancestry. The Pellarini PL-11 used a Harvard engine and
forward fuselage...

A civilian utility aircraft that started life as a military design, the
very successful Fletcher FU-24 rests in front of the PL-11.

As for Scott's PZL, I seen video of that bird and it's almost amazing how
maneuverable that big machine is! I say almost amazing..until one realizes
that it does what bi-planes do best! The PZL would also, I think, make a
good subject for amphibious...the turbine induction is as far from water
ingestion as it could be. Sorry..can't get the Navy outta me

The Optica is another neat one. Flypast has had a good thread or 2 on
that aircraft. I vaguely remember a magazine article when it was newish
and seem to recall that it was designed by a Civil Engineer, he wanted a
helicopter-view without the training. Maybe it was someone in a Flypast
thread, that mentioned the Optica presented some difficulties in landing
because of the lack of horizon caused by the wide-open view. I'll have to
see if i can find it...

How 'bout another weird one..although a bit more attractive, until you

The Edgley Optica has been an all time favorite of mine! And also, the Fantrainer . . .

Of course I like the A-10, and I can even see some beauty in some radial engined aircraft (let me duck and roll . . .) but nothing in my book, beats the lines, sound and beauty of a MUSTANG.

that russian flying boat monstrosity is cool, but it is also a testimonial why russia is flat assed busted $$$$ wise. the chopper took over for the flying boat right after ww 2, but was not a reality until the mid 50's.
