The best flying weather of the whole year was this week... and I take my 170 down for paint! But... it was in the paint shop for only 5 days! GLO Custom at Northwest Regional did a very nice job painting the undersides of the wings and fuselage. Just rolled it back into my hangar today. Flaps and ailerons will go back on next week during the annual.

Will start polishing it up for the summer fly-ins after the annual.

A few more pictures here...

Hope to be back flying in time to make the Texas Antique Flyin at Gainesville.

You had me scared there for a minute, Dan! I thought you weren't going to keep any of it polished at first, but I'm glad to read that you have. It looks great!!!

Wow!!!

It that a factory scheme?
I love the old polished/paint schemes from Cessna in the 50s.
I went to an event and there were several restored that way (including a late 50s Areo Commander 500) and I was very impressed.

Great job.

Thanks. I am really happy with it.

Gary... I know... I struggled for many years with the decision to even paint this much! I plan to keep this machine original but I almost had to paint the undersides to maintain it. It really bothers me when an original is painted over, re-engined and has a chopped up panel. If you want to do that to a wreck... then go ahead... but an original flyer needs to stay that way.

So... stepping off soap box...

to keep the polished aluminum shiny, check out 'STREET RODDER' and find the ad for 'ZOOPSEAL', rodders use it to keep chromed and polished engine components nice and bright, goes on pretty easy, lasts a long time -won't yellow due to underhood heat, etc. etc.........
