Here you go.
We did not contact any owners and make them an offer.
We located what we wanted, contacted the owners and asked if they would like to participate and how much they charged.
Where possible, we located more than one of the same type and took the one with the most availability and where possible the lower fee as stated by the owner. Sometimes we paid the higher fee if availability was better
They owners either said yes and we paid them or said no that they did not want to fly vintage a/c all the way to location.
Now , there's your denial....lets see you list of people that I supposedly contacted.

Concerning the planes participating to the movie. a lockheed L-12 is making the trip from France to South Africa, where some scenes have to be filmed. Now she must be heading to Libreville, Gabon. The main issue for this flight is to find Avgas all along the trip. The crew is living a real adventure.

here are some pics of the plane on her start from France :

Thanks for the pics

The logistics behind the project to get the a/c to S Africa were mind boggling at times.
In the beginning we were going to use the one we used here in N America by having it fly all the way to S Africa.
I am glad we located the one in France

Over all the hardest project was to transport by flatbed a static Lockheed 10a all the way to southern Ontario Canada from FLA.

We could only move it at certain hours each day and had to deal with at least 20 different county police forces along the route.

Besides the logistics nightmare, the cost was enormous.

I was on that set supporting the Taperwing, and I worked with "16B".

I think it only right to say that with all the airplane wrangling that went on, with some difficult flying scenes, and a large number people who know nothing about airplanes getting close to propellors (they were real ones and they were turning), no one got hurt.

They were long days, crowded sets, moving airplanes and no incidents. That really is something of an accomplishment.

I'll work with "16B" anytime.

Dave

And it was fun teaching Hilary how to start a Wright Whirlwind!

Dave

Shooting the movie was quite an experience for all of us.
You and the rest of the Vintage Wings people were real pros
Along with all the other crews you made my job that much easier
Thanks again for all you help .....see you guys on the show circuit.
( and maybe in the movie)

Keep'em Flying

The L-12 is now heading to Libreville, after a awful stop on the Malabo island were the crew was asked to pay a 7500€ charge for having crossed the air space of this island (money in cash, of course :? ), and where documents and money for avgas was stolen to the crew... this is Africa....just legal piracy...

The following photos are of the Lockheed 12 that is being used for the static shots. I took these at Shell Creek Airport during the end April. The aircraft is owned by the legendary pilot Frank Moss.

They did it !!! After a cool flight over Namibia and south Africa (compared to the central Africa part of the trip), the Lockheed landed Friday, 17:00 local time, at Cape Town.
she must now be painted to play Amelia's Electra !!!
