I am looking foward to the WIX meet on July 1st. This is the status of attendees as I know it...

Andrew Semon - Arrival: Attending morning only
Scott Rose - Arrival: ?
Ryan Keogh - Arrival: ?
Olivier Lacombe - Arrival: ?
Steve Tournay - CONFIRMED ATTENDING - Arrival: Mid/late morning
Eric Dumigan - May Not Be Attending (distracted by Do-24)
Charles Dumaresq - Arrival: ?
James Kightly - Arrival: ?
Col. Rohr - Can not attend

For those attending, it is recommend that you bring a cooler with food and water (the aviation museum has no restrictions on such things) and lawn chairs. The restoration hangers usually throw some good shade, so that is a nice place to set up to watch any flybys in the afternnoon.

I also would like to know what the out-of-towners who are staying overnight may be interested in doing later in the day. The RCMP usually performs the Musical Ride, and they are located not far from the museum. There is usually a good view of fireworks from near Parliament Hill. They usually have concerts on the hill as well. Interested anyone? Speak-up.

I'll be there for the full day. I will need a ride from the Rockliffe flying club, as I will park me plane there.

I'll be arriving the night before and staying the weekend in Ottawa. My Canadian wife has to show me a proper Mountie this time. She keeps pointing at these cops on the street and telling me they are Mounties, but they aren't wearing the uniform. It's not right. Having grown up in London I know that fancy dress for the police is everyday wear - including the funny hat!

Back to aviation. I'm planning on a complete Rockliffe day; anyone know what's planned?

Cheers
James

I'll see if I can find out from the museum.

Ok, it's in 4 days.

At what time will you be there?

I would suggest on showing up by 10 AM. I might try to be there early to help out with PNS for an hour. Since Scott and Ryan will be traveling with me, an early entry would allow them some good photo ops.

For those that will be in Ottawa overnight... I would like to know how many are interested in going to see the fireworks that night. My wife is asking, and it is usually a very good show. Anyone interested?

I'm up for it, I am at you and your wife's mercy concerning non-aviation activities :)

Hi all,
I'll be arriving in Ottawa the night before, and around for a couple of days after. Probably interested in the fireworks, but I'll have to see what the Missus has planned!

I can get to the Museum any time - are we formating around Mike H?

Cheers
James

J-F St-Pierre posted the museams program for the day...
http://www.aviation.technomuses.ca/pdf/ ... e_2004.pdf
...which indicates that we can tour the B-24! I think that is a first for the museum.

Anyway... The program indicates the museum opens at 9 AM. I would like to be there about 8:30 just in case they allow people in a little ealier.

Here is what I suggest... We are all going to be arriving in the morning likely at different times. If the WIX gang hangs out on the east side of the museum (the side towards the new storage hanger), we can then get our pictures of the static displays. I think Steve Tournay wants to try a get a group shot in the form of a spoof Beaufighter highjacking attempt. Anyway, if we stick to one side for a while we should be able to find each other.

Around late-morning/noon we should move over to the north side of the museum where the flying activity can best be viewed. The museum does not restrict coolers, so it is a good place to set-up camp in the shade of the restoration hanger (usually something to be seen in there).

Regards,

Mike

Scott and Ryan will be arriving late Wednesday (June 30th). James and his better half will be in the area as well, and of course Andrew lives near-by.

So is anyone interested in a get-togehter in the evening of the 30th?

I recently borrowed some slides from a gentleman in Toronto who worked for Kenting Aviation doing aerial surveys in Northern Canada and Peru. He crewed B-17s, Hudsons, Canso, etc. and loaned me some interesting slides of those types. There are a few other surprises in his collection as well. Perhaps we could open a bottle of wine, set-up the slide projector and try to ID the aircraft in the pictures (the Hudsons/Lodestars/Electras can be hard to tell apart). Thoughts anyone?

Mike
