Now that our replacement C-54 is back in action (Currently at the paint shop), We turned our focus back to the C-97. We have recently made a deal for spares. It may take a while, but our next agenda item is replacing the #2 engine and getting the Angel back in the air where she belongs. It was quite a costly deal, so a major fundraising campaign will be undertaken soon.

We are working on our newsletter where we will make offical announcements about all this stuff.

How much does fuel cost now? I hope some of those fuel outfits donate.

Yes, thanks. We are currently working on arranging transport of said parts and engines East from WY. If you want to help with that, we'd appreciate it. We'd really like to get the C-97 back up again.

Unfortunately, after the engine failure in 2019, the deal we had to get the spares was paused due to the uncertainty of shows coming back and income drying up. Then the C-54E was tornadoed. That took priority #1 because it is our bread and butter. getting the replacement C-54D up and running took just slightly over a year from the date of the tornado, and we're still working its quirks out, even after our cross country trek to Utah to celebrate our friend, Gail Halvorsen, the Candy Bomber. Of course, no good deed goes unpunished, as our #1 engine expired in the summer of 2022. We replaced that with one from the C-54E, and finished the season.

Afterwards, we were able to turn back to the C-97 deal and as you saw we made it. Now, we just need to get the parts from GEY to RDG and begin the long process of waking up the airplane once again.

Thanks for all your support over these crazy few years for us. It is appreciated more than you can imagine.

Glad to hear that things are moving forward Kevin!

Were the 4360 engines on the 3 aircraft at Greybull all of the same variant that can be used on the museums C-97? or close enough? I know there a subtle, and not so subtle deference's in the variants.

Correct. They are all R-4360-59B engines. Exactly what is required.

Hi Kevin,

I understand the C-97 should be airborne again by the winter. If so, are you planning to take it to Oshkosh next summer please, or would that not be in the cards for the foreseeable future?
(I'm asking because I have to start long-term planning for next summer soon.)

Thank you and good luck!

Roger
